December on the farm is a time for things to slow down a bit and for us to get caught up on repairs and projects. The corn has been harvested and we have baled the remaining corn shocks up to use as bedding for the cows. Hay equipment gets power washed and put away. Leftover pumpkins will be fed to the sheep. The ram went in with the breeding ewes November 3 so we will take him out around the middle of December and look for lambs in early to mid-April. Our big colored ram went to the Clark family in Thurmont to help them continue to build their flock. Look for his offspring in the show rings next summer! We continue to gather and split firewood and will be prepping the snow removal equipment although thus far it has been nice to enjoy a fairly mild fall.
