Yikes, August is already over?!  September is here?
I guess it’s about time to work our seasonal favorite Red Eye Porter into the brew schedule!  This year will see us drop the chocolate rye from the recipe, instead featuring some new chocolate malts from Murphy & Rude Malting Company.

Murphy & Rude Malting Company is a craft malthouse in Virginia that is doing cool things in the world of specialty malts (such as the black, chocolate and crystal malts used in our recipes).  Since no Maryland maltsters are yet making these highly kilned specialties, we’ve chosen Murphy & Rude for them. Previously, most of our dark malts came from Colorado, so Virginia is a huge step towards getting those last few ingredients locally.

I know that many are all still mourning the loss of Maryland All Stars IPA.  So also on the brew schedule for this month is our first collaboration in some time – a new IPA brewed with Black Locust Brewery.  Che has been making some amazing beers, and hopefully will teach me a thing or two about that juicy haze people are so crazy about these days.
