Tasting Room & Farmers Market Associate

We are always looking for team members who are passionate about beer and working with people. We believe in cross-training our staff to do whatever is needed to take care of customers including our taproom, mercantile, festivals or farmer’s markets. Regardless of the position our team members work in, they are willing to help out across departments.
 
We are looking for people who can work weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday ) and at least 6 and maybe up to 10 shifts a month. As a seasonal business, we need people who can be flexible with their work schedules during the spring, summer and fall, when we are the busiest.

Job Description:

The position currently offers part-time, 10-20 hours per week with an ability to earn additional hours based upon performance.
The starting hourly wage is 10.20/hour + tips. Although not guaranteed, our associates average around $25/hour total.
What does a Tasting Room Associate do?
  • Help guests find the perfect beer in an approachable manner
  • Go the extra mile to enable great experiences in the taproom
  • Be knowledgeable about Milkhouse Brewery styles of Craft beer
  • Provide excellent customer service to patrons in our on-site taproom
  • Serve beer for on-premise consumption & fill crowlers
  • Maintain the counter, pour beer, change kegs, set up events, and any other opening/closing tasks to keep the tasting room operating
  • Use our POS system for sales, making change and keeping track of tabs for bar patrons
  • Bus tables, wash glassware, maintain restrooms & taproom
  • Restock merchandise
  • Update beer board and menus
  • Support events outside the taproom from time-to-time (i.e. beer festivals and promotional events)
  • Enhance sales using suggestive selling techniques.
  • Complete opening and closing duties and communicate issues via the shift journal.
  • Above all, provide friendly customer service

What does a Farmer’s Market Associate do?

  • Load/unload and drives company van to scheduled markets
  • Set up/ break down tables and displays
  • Provide tastes to farmers market patrons to entice sales.
  • Provide general information about Milkhouse Brewery and Stillpoint Farm
  • Can speak knowledgeable about our beer and wool products
  • Complete sales transactions using POS system
  • Completes sales reports
  • Keep market supplies stocked
  • Provide friendly customer service

  • Are at least 21 at the time of hire
  • Are able to work at least 6 shifts each month, Thursday – Sunday, and some holidays. Occasional weekday evening staff meeting attendance may also be required. Scheduling will be flexible but weekend hours are required.

These items are required:

  • Ability to drink, taste, smell and describe beer
  • Ability to read and follow written English instructions
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs and be on your feet for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to regularly twist, turn, kneel, climb, stoop, bend, crawl, lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 130 pounds using appropriate techniques and tools
  • Ability to work in a factory/production environment which may be loud, slick, humid, cold, and hot
  • Ability to comply with and enforce all health, safety, and personal hygiene policies and standards
  • Can lift 50 lbs unassisted and up to 165 lbs assisted.
  • Mandatory Alcohol Server Training Certification (you will have 30 days from hire to obtain this if you don’t already hold it)
  • Must be 21 or older
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Transportation to work.
  • COVID-19 vaccination
  • Non-smoker

Job details

  • Bartending: 1 years (preferred)
  • Retail Sales: 1 years (preferred)

  • Milkhouse Brewery taproom
  • And possibly our mercantile, farmer’s markets and festivals throughout central Maryland
