December on the farm is a time for things to slow down a bit and for us to get caught up on repairs and projects. The corn has been harvested and we have baled the remaining corn shocks up to use as bedding for the cows. Hay equipment gets power washed and put away. Leftover pumpkins will be fed to the sheep. The rams went in with the breeding ewes November 12 so we will take them out around the middle of December and look for lambs in early to mid-April. We continue to gather and split firewood and will be prepping the snow removal equipment although thus far it has been nice to enjoy a fairly mild fall.
